Reinstatement of the Relief Lock-Keepers

Reinstatement of the Relief Lock-Keepers

We are delighted to share that the Environment Agency will be reinstating/recruiting 10 Relief Lock Keepers, with contracts commencing in time for the first May Bank Holiday until the 31st October 2024.

This decision marks a significant turnaround by the Environment Agency, reflecting their recognition of the vital role played by Relief Lock Keepers in supporting the Lock Keepers, managing river traffic, particularly during peak seasons. Their presence ensures safe passage for boaters of all experience levels, contributing to a safer and more enjoyable boating experience for all.

We welcome this positive development and thank the Environment Agency for their responsiveness to the concerns of the boating communities.
